Overview
Locumly is seeking a skilled and experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity with a major regional healthcare system in Iowa. This role provides critical coverage across multiple blocks throughout the upcoming months, combining daytime clinic responsibilities with rotating call coverage.


What you will be doing:

• Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery support, including clinic coverage and surgical first assisting.

• Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) as part of regular surgical cases.

• Manage a standard caseload within a Level II trauma facility that averages approximately 125 CABG cases annually.

• Participate in a 1:2 call rotation, including weeknight call and 24-hour weekend call.

What you must have:

• Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

• Minimum of two years of dedicated experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery, including hands-on EVH experience.

• Active ACLS and BLS certifications.

• Clean malpractice and background history (recent self-query NPDB report required for credentialing).

• Licensing: Open to all candidates. Active Iowa license is preferred, but licensing assistance is available as state licensure is currently highly efficient (averaging 4–6 weeks).

Other Information:
Schedule & Setting

• Setting: Outpatient specialty clinic and Level II trauma hospital center located in the Iowa region.

• Shift Structure: Monday through Friday daytime clinic (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) paired with weeknight call. Saturdays and Sundays require 24-hour on-call availability.

Coverage Blocks Needed:

• Mid-August (including 24-hour weekend call)

• Early October (including 24-hour weekend call)

• Late October/Early November (including 24-hour weekend call)

• Late November (including holiday/weekend call)

• Late December (including holiday/weekend call)

• Ongoing: Continued coverage opportunities are available past these dates.
